Tabriz, northwest Iran was a historic center of production of carpets and is a well known for its carpet court as the Ardabil carpet. After the mid-nineteenth century, Tabriz relaunched its carpet production and became a center of production for export to Europe and elsewhere. The Tabriz carpet has a special importance. It is in the workshops of the city that were manufactured the first carpet for export. After shipping antique carpets abroad, merchants began to produce themselves in workshops, according to the sizes and colors demanded by the European merchants. That may be a reason why this carpet are not distinguished by a particular color.
