Toussaint Renson entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège in 1919, where he won several first prizes.
He was chosen to represent the class of Emile Berchmans at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925 (Belgian section, teaching group). He received the gold medal there for his painting "Metallurgy". he creates posters on various subjects, such as shows, political and social propaganda, charity, tourism... He also publishes some political cartoons for the newspaper "Volonté". From 1945, he is in charge of the drawing course at the Academy of Fine Arts. His activity as a painter, however, seems to belong to his private sphere: he paints - mainly portraits, landscapes, urban views and still lifes, keeps his works for his personal pleasure or offers them to his relatives, having always refused to exhibit his paints.
