Large portrait (oil on canvas) of a woman painted by Joachin SOTTA about 1850-1860. Painter born in Mélesco in the piedmont in 1810 and died in Treillières near Nantes on August 22, 1877. Pupil of Jacques Louis DAVID, attends the workshop Hersent In Paris, Silver Medal of the Academy of Fine Arts of Paris in 1833. He resides in Nantes from this period and will make numerous portraits of notables and their families of this region. Size of the portrait with the frame: 114 cm x 131 cm without the frame: 81 cm x 101 cm The canvas has been restored (two rooms) but not resoiled. In a painted and gilded frame decorated with oves and pearls.
