"A Louis XVI Solid Walnut Extending Dining Table 18th Century Circa 1780"
Large and beautiful oval tray posing on six feet with clogs on wheels of gilded bronze. Two rounded side portions fold vertically. The table can accommodate several extension five leaves(two in solid walnut and three more) , supported by the four main legs of the table and by two additional movable legs. The extension is progressively modulable by key slides made of oak wood stretching according to the number of extensions. Each of the solid walnut extensions leaves is provided with lateral mortise-tongue strips, allowing a homogeneous visual projection, concealing the extension of the slides while stiffening the whole table. Like all furniture from the 18th century, this table is entirely assembled with tenons-mortises pegged. On the photographs the table is presented with two extensions with walnut strips in solid walnut; Which allows him to receive twelve covers.
The tray measures 106.5 cm wide and 116.5 cm long and its height is 71.5 cm. With the two walnut extensions with headbands (47.8cm) the tray measures 116.5 cm wide and 204 cm long. Plus the three raw wooden extensions (50 cm) the tray measures 116.5 cm wide and 354 cm long.
Restorations: the original sliding system (period). It has been completely restored and revised to facilitate its opening. The whole table was treated in depth and patinated.
