Marcel Pouget (1923-1985), a native of Oran, lived almost exclusively for painting, tracing an expressionist way that disconcerted his patrons and contemporaries, despite countless exhibitions, but which today finds a fair echo in the hearts of Lovers of modern art. This painting, very early in his work, dates from his first Parisian visit in 1947, financed by a group of Oranese amateurs who believed in him.
