Beautiful and rare work of the painter Auguste Pégurier nicknamed" the first painter of Saint-Tropez " .
The artist certainly represented in this work his wife and one of his daughters on the terrace of their house in Saint-Tropez.We know, indeed, a few other works of the artist representing this scene of everyday life in the house Rev Estello in Saint-Tropez.
Like the Impressionist masters, the artist has a total mastery of the play of light and sunny atmospheres. His painting is characterized by vibrant colors that make it possible to transcribe the light of Provence and to express a poetry in his works. Pupil of Cormon and Carolus-Duran at the Jullian Academy in Paris.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français in 1880. Not being appreciated enough in Paris, he decided to settle in Saint-Tropez where he led a life without material worries as a wine-grower.
During the interwar period, he appeared again in the Parisian exhibitions from 1924 to 1935.
These works are preserved at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and at the Musée de L'Annonciade in Saint-Tropez.
