"Persian Moud Pure Very Fine Wool Rug"
Completely knotted by hand, pure wool, vegetal dyes, cotton weft, size: 1,95mX0,80m. The town of Moud is located 300 kilometers south of Machhad and south of Birjand. Moud carpets often carry a heraldic motif, with or without a central medallion. Sometimes the distinction is made between Moud Mahi and Moud Garden, the Mahi being often beige with a shade of red or blue with a star shaped medallion. The others, the Garden, illustrated with a stylized garden pattern, recall the Bakhtiari carpets. The weavers use a double weft thread and their execution is often of good quality. In both subcategories, silk is sometimes used to enhance the velvet luster. Other carpets are also produced in this area, such as the Birjand and the Kāshmar.
