Antoine-Vital Cardeilhac founded his goldsmith's business in 1804 and specialized in flatware and cutlery. In the course of the 19th century, the company was passed on from father to son, with Armand-Edouard and then Ernest, and continued to produce highly inspired pieces for most models of ironwork, richly ornamented finely. These works of varying shapes and styles are all considered remarkable for their chasing. The Cardeilhac house is inevitably noticed at national and international exhibitions for the high quality of the pieces offered to the public and receives numerous awards, such as the bronze medal won in 1823, silver in 1827 and 1834 and the famous Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1867. Finally a gold medal to dedicate them to the Universal Exposition of 1878, thus giving the Cardeilhac house an unprecedented rise.
