French School XIXe signed JN SYLVESTRE (* Joseph-Noël Sylvestre 1847-1926). Beautiful Louis-Philippe frame in gilded wood with leaf, model with canals decorated with moldings in doucine. Good condition, paint to clean. Dimensions: 52,5 cm X 44 cm. * Joseph-Noël SYLVESTRE was born on June 24, 1847 in Beziers. He is a romantic painter of academic formation whose work is inspired by classical antiquity. He began his artistic apprenticeship with Thomas Couture (painter professor historian) within the Museum from Augustins to Toulouse, before joining the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of Alexandre Cabanel, he was awarded the third prize at Rome in 1869.
