The subject is rare and original and its treatment particularly successful. The Iroquois Indians were not to concern many French people in the 19th century, except those settled in North America. Perhaps it is the memory of the battles waged against them during the creation of the colony of Montreal in the 17th century by Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve (1612 - 1676).
Whatever its origin, this bronze presents a beautiful patina and especially interesting details of the clothing, moccasins and the Iroquois hairstyle of this Native American warrior. Placed on a marble base which we will notice a slight lack, this bronze is in perfect condition.
