ROYAL SCENE IN A NEO-GOTHIC INTERIOR

This troubadour scene made around 1810-1820 shows under a neo-gothic arch a king on his throne in the centre background, surrounded by his retinue, in the foreground to the left of the knights in armour, to the right a couple discreetly looking at the scene.
In a beautiful gilt wood frame decorated with Louis XVI style flowers garlands.

Second son of Jean-François Garneray, painter, draftsman of the costumes of the Opéra and the first Théâtre-Français, painter of the cabinet of Queen Hortense, drawing teacher of the Duchesse du Berry, pupil of his father and Isabey. He exhibited at the salons of 1808 and 1824.
