Portrait of Cardinal giulio Rospigliosi, school of the painter Carlo Maratta: Giulio Rospigliosi, (born in Pistoia on 27 or 28 January 1600 - died on 9 December 1669), pope Clement IX (in Italian Clemente IX) June 1667 to December 9, 1669. Elected on June 26, 1667, he was mediator in the wars of succession between France, Spain, England and Holland by the peace of Aix-la-Chapelle called "Clementine" . Carlo Maratta or Carlo Maratti (Camerano, 15 May 1625 - Rome, 15 December 1713) is an Italian painter whose style is more refined and composed than those of Cortona and Annibale Carracci, and more allied to the traditions of Andrea Sacchi, Francesco Albani and Guido Reni.
