"E. Mundy: English Watercolor Venice Since Lido"
Stage required of the Grand Tour, Venice was often represented by artists of all nationalities The watercolor that we present today is characteristic of these charming works reported by young people of Good Family whose education also included the learning of the Music and Fine Arts. Titled "Venice from Lido" and signed E MUNDY (?), It presents the Fiancée of the sea standing out on the mountains of Veneto crowned with clouds. Around 1870/80, 15 X 26 cm, mounted by a beige marie-louise in a hilly semi-round frame with German gilding beads from the Jean Labaigt House in Pau which was, as everyone knows, an "English town" in the 19th century.
