"Antonio Uria Monzon : Mixed Media Pair "the Bouquets""
I redid the photos because the previous ones were too bad, but these are not much better and they render only a tiny part of the quality of the works. Antonio Uria Monzon (1929-1996), a Spanish artist who was first exiled in Paris and then alternated with Ciboure and Agen (his wife's hometown), developed a very personal universe, nourished by reshaped and perfectly assimilated influences such as Goya and Picasso. If a part of his work consisted of making hyperrealistic portraits, especially of children, a whole part is devoted to his other passion: bullfighting, mainly focused on the movement masterfully rendered in watercolor or oil. Here we have another facet of his work, a kind of poetic surrealism that he developed in parallel with the 60s at his death. This "Young girl with bouquet and dove" and "The offering to the beloved" mixed techniques using pencil, ink and pastel measure about 35 X 27 cm and were mounted in wholesale modern Dutch style frames 53 X 45 cm under "museum" glasses anti reflections.
