Rare EX VOTO Dated 1813 representing a procession of white penitents This procession follows a winding path leading to a chapel. The penitents carry on their shoulders a stretcher surmounted by a statue of the virgin. Some hold burning candles, procession sticks and, on a stretcher, the chief-reliquary of a bishop. The officiant, accompanied by a child of heart, is followed by women in civil dress. Top right, appearance of Saint Jacques the Major and Saint Jacques the Minor and, above, the Virgin and the child sitting on a cloud. To note the hat of the cantor-chapier, wearing the turlututu, the old pointed hat of the cantors. DIMENSIONS OF THE FRAME: 71 X 57.5 CM
