Commode in purple wood, stamped Antoine CRIAERD, opening with four drawers on the front, slightly curved, provided with a beautiful ornamentation of gilded bronze Rococo very finely chiselled. Top of royal red marble with beak of corbin, hallmark of jurande, Parisian furniture, dating from the first half of the eighteenth century. Antoine CRIAERD, of Flemish origin, elder brother of the cabinetmaker Mathieu CRIAERD, he practices the same profession in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine during the period 1720-1750. He provided furniture to cabinet maker and merchant Migeon. The works bearing his stamp are related to the style of the Regency or early reign of Louis XV. Its brand also appears on some furniture of Louis XV style and very good quality, with ornaments of gilt bronzes very finely chiselled, which is the case of our dresser.
