Large Cameo In Labradorite XIXth Century

Grand cameo labradorite nineteenth century in its original silver mount.
This is a cameo representing a warrior in profile turned to the left.
Very finely worked, the details are superb with a beautiful work on the face and the beard, the helmet and the breastplate.
the stone takes on shades ranging from red to intense blue when this cameo is shimmered in the sun or electric light.
besides, it is not common to see a labradorite thus worked in a cameo, with a speckle going towards the red orange reminiscent of the opal.
there is a horizontal slit on the surface of the cameo at the level of the beard and going to the bottom of the helmet, little visible probably due to mounting in its silver mount and the nose has been a little bit broken.
very large proportions, beautiful glyptic work.
