René Yves Creston, pseudonym of René Pierre Joseph Creston, born October 25, 1898 in Saint-Nazaire, and died in Étables-sur-Mer on May 30, 1964, is a French painter, engraver, illustrator, sculptor and ethnologist. He was named the official painter of the Navy in 1936. In 1923 he was one of the co-founders of the Seiz Breur movement. He will campaign all his life for the recognition of Breton and its culture. Wonderful draftsman, he tried with rare success to all the artistic techniques.
