"18th Century Louis XVI Mahogany Bureau Plat Stamped G. Dester"
This elegant Bureau plat "all faces" in mahogany and mahogany veneer, opens with two side shelves and four drawers in front surrounded by threads of pearls including a double and equipped with a chest. Plateau belted with a mold in gilded bronze and sheathed in a burgundy leather with small irons in a mahogany frame. The rounded sides decorated with brass grooves highlighted by rings are extended by tapered fluted legs with asparagus ending with bronze shoes.
Beautiful ornamentation of gilded and chiseled bronze. Original gilding with mercury.
Stamped G DESTER for Godefroy Dester (died December 24, 1805) cabinet maker. Paris. Master July 27, 1774. His studio located rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, specialized in mahogany furniture and mahogany veneer.
Very good state of conservation.
