"Alfred Lombard (1884-1973) Still Life"
Superb still life of the painter of Provence Alfred Lombard, in very good condition, from the artist's family. 50 cm by 65 (68 cm by 82 framed) representing a still life with fruit and cabbage, vigorous technique and slurred. The work is signed lower right and back, a stamp stating: "Alfred Lombard, authenticated by his children". After exhibiting his works at the Paris Salon of 1910, he organized with Pierre Girieud the May Salon of Marseille in 1912 and 1913 in their common workshop at No. 12 quay of Rive-Neuve on the Old Port of Marseille. In particular, he worked with the architect Pierre Patout in 1925 on the interior layout and design of the large cruise liners of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, and in particular the Ile de France and Atlantique liners. This collaboration reached its peak in 1935 with the liner Normandy, undisputed and unmatched masterpiece of the French Art Deco of the 1930s.
