"Clovis Terraire (1858-1931) The Old Farm Above The Vallon Des Auffes In Marseille"
Superb and anecdotal oil on canvas from the painter of the Ecole Lyonnaise but born in Marseille Clovis frédérick Terraire (1858-1931). The work, signed and dated 1889 in the lower left, represents an "old farm above the Vallon des Auffes in Marseille". The house is now surrounded by newer buildings but still exists. It measures with its frame of nineteenth time 67 cm by 92, and without the frame, 54 cm by 81. There is written on the back, on the chassis: "Cabanons au Vallon des Auffes". We can distinguish in the distance the Blue Coast.
