The removal of layers of dirt (accumulatedatmospheric pollution, soot etc.) from paintings is carried out followingcareful procedures to ensure that no damage is done to the underlyinglayers of paint, glazes and varnishesFrench artist Agénorie Monique Laurenceau was born 26 June 1830, inBeaugency (Loiret), studied painting under the celebrated AlphonseMuraton and Joseph Suchet. She exhibited at the Paris Salon from1864-1879. Known for her Genre scenes, landscapes, flowers and stilllifes, she also painted porcelain. She lived in Tours (France) from 1850to 1871, then in Marseilles, and la Mède-lès-Martigues. AgénorieMonique Laurenceau died on 9th January 1907 in Châteauneuf-lès-Martigues nicknamed the ‘’Provençale Venice’’Alfred-Arthur Brunel de Neuville (or Brunel Neuville), was born inParis in 1852 and died in the same city in 1941. He was a French genrepainter who worked in still life paintings and paintings of animals.
