"Rome View"
View from the north of Rome which, behind a first tree line, lets us see on the right the Tiber and Castel Sant'Angelo, on the left seems to discover Villa Borghese. This drawing is reminiscent of an achievement by Pierre-Athanase CHAUVIN (Paris 1774- Rome 1832). Arrived in Italy in 1802, his compositions highlight the nature he considers full in the subject of his works, making Rome and its surroundings one of his favorite subjects. Pupil of Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes, he regularly exhibited at the Salon in Paris from 1793 and became a member of the Academy of Saint-Luc in Rome in 1813.
