Kristian Fredrik Oppegaard (1887-1955) Signature on the top right "Kristian Oppegaard" Norwegian painter. Cubist still life with cabbage and pitcher. Painter of landscape, still life, portraits and images of kind. He quickly acquired a deep technical skill, and his images recall works by contemporary painters like Charles W Strom, Soren Onsager and Harald Sohlberg. He prefers cold colors, calm surfaces and clear lines. He studied at the Norwegian arts and crafts industry in Oslo, under the direction of Johan Nordhagen, then at the Julian Academy in Paris, under the direction of Jean Paul Laurens in 1912, and at the Statens Kunstakademi in Oslo between 1913-14 under the direction of Halfdan Strom. He worked later with Vassili Choukhaeff and André Lhote between 1924-25, time of the realization of this still life. In this painting we find a form of cubism in the manner of André Lhote, one of the representatives of cubism. Beautiful setting of the time. Oil on cardboard, laminated on isorel.
