"A Solid Walnut Provencal Commode, Nîmoise 18th Century Circa 1750"
Provençal Commode called Nîmes or Nîmes, curved all sides in solid walnut heart carved, molded and waxed. Commode with very pronounced generous curves, finely carved with symmetrical acanthes and rockeries with openwork crosspieces. Sinuous uprights, enhanced by large and fat moldings in elegy, topped with flowers and florets, punctuated by small arched feet with vegetal windings brought back with powerful acanthus leaves. Each side is centered with a large bezel topped with a cartridge, both girdled with an elegance molding in adequacy to the amounts, the teeth of the wolf demarcating them. It opens on the front with two long curved drawers, laterally concave or convex depending on the sinuosities of the building. The crosspieces, both front and sides, complete the theatrically the whole of an equally voluble décor; always in adequation of acanthes and rock symmetrical but there elegantly openwork. The whole is capped with a wooden top in one curved piece where runs in the periphery a beak of chamfered corbin. Rare entries entrances and open circular drop handles are original. This very specific work of Provencal masters gives to this type of chest of drawers all its letters of nobility; we find the exuberance of the south combined with the theatrical taste of Italian magnificence. Observation: it should be noted that the patina of origin allows to appreciate all the gouge of the work of sculpture, which it highlights. No restorations, fingerings or other occasions is to report this convenient is totally in its original state without wrinkles of time.
