Object description :

"Baroque German Oboe From Paulus Circa 1750"
Baroque German oboe from Paulus around 1750 From 1650, the families Hotteterre and Philidor, instrument makers, composers, virtuoso musicians, members of the Chamber Music and the Great Stables of the King, will make the instrument evolve, dividing it into three parts, refining the bore, adjusting the hole in the notes, adding a W-shaped key (allowing alternation of the position of the hands) and a key of Mi. They are considered the creators of the baroque oboe. In 1664, Jean-Baptiste Lully, superintendent of the Court, wrote a march for these new oboes, integrates them to "The Great Stable of the King" of Louis XIV, an institution dating from Francis I. The oboe of the classical period, the middle from the 18th century to the early 19th century, does not vary much from its predecessor. The main oboe factors of the 18th century are: Denner, Bressan, Grenser, Bizey, Delusse, Thomas Collier, Rippert, Stanesby, Schlegel, Rottenburgh, Anciuti, Fornari, Grundmann, Eichentopf, Haka, Boekhout, Knikker, Richters, Steenbergen, Wijne, Aardenberg, Oberlender, Hotteterre, Milhouse, Kenigsperger, Castel, Dupuis, Bormann, Martin Lot, Heise, Rijkel, Carl Tölcke.
