This painting of Bather, young woman in bare feet, sitting on steps in a garden with hydrangea flowers, shows the mastery of light by Guillonnet and his impressionist side. Octave-Denis-Victor Guillonnet (1872 - 1967) admitted to the Fine Arts at the age of 15, was an official artist of the Third Republic. Arrived in the city of Carros in 1899, he painted his greatest works there. Facing Latin America, it welcomed Diego Rivéra for 2 years and painted at the request of Venezuela, fresco and paintings exhibited at Caracas. Friend of the Derain, Matisse and Bonnard families, he was a keen observer of men and nature, a virtuoso colorist and master of light. For the 50th anniversary of his disappearance in 2017, various retrospectives have taken place.
