"Charles Ogier : Crepuscule On The Village"
One of the biggest challenges, but also one of the greatest satisfactions of our job as an art dealer, is to rediscover a painter who has been forgotten but whose talent is indisputable and to put it back on the stage for the greatest pleasure of the amateurs. So it is with Charles OGIER (1856-1897), whose works seem to date from the early twentieth as they reveal modernity. He was often successfully exhibited at the famous "Georges Petit Galleries" where also took place in 1898 his sale after his death too early at 41 years. The catalog of this one, prefaced by Luc-Olivier Merson indicates to us the places where he preferred to stay and paint: Bords of Loire, Pyrenees, Provence, Spain, but especially the Basque Country where he realized some of his chefs-d ' works. We present here an oil on canvas 46 X 61 cm approximately, dressed with a frame Degas gilded copper 56 X 68 cm a little rough. The composition, very pure, is fully impressionistic.
