Object description :

"French School XVIIIth "series Of Six Anatomical Drawings 1790" Medicine Skinned Auzoux Anatomy"
FRENCH SCHOOL 18th century

"Series of six anatomical drawings, 1790"

Drawings in black stone,
Monogrammed: "ML" and dated: April 3, 1790, April 27, 1790, May 22, 1790, June 22, 1790, July 10, 1790 and July 20 1790.

Exceptional and rare series of anatomical drawings, of skinned, of 1790 which illustrate different views of the body of a human being, or partly, stripped of his skin and his fatty tissues, to represent the morphology of the muscles, veins, joints and bones.

Some boards are captioned with numbers or letters.
The six plates may have been the result of a collaboration between a doctor and an artist to illustrate a book and medical treatises and thus present body parts such as medicine described. In the eighteenth century, Enlightenment, medical studies are booming as the publication of books on medicine.

Expert: Bayser's Cabinet

Nb / The drawings are not insolated.

Size: approximately 46 x 30 cm for each drawing, without frame and 64 x 48 cm with their gilded wood frames
