"Commode Stamped Schwingkens, XVIIIth Century (late Regency, Early Louis XV)"
Parisian work, eighteenth century era. Stamped G. Schwingkens and J.M.E.
Rectangular shape, slightly curved on the face, in rosewood veneer.
It has 4 drawers in three rows with gilded bronze keyholes and chiseled handles.
The drawers are separated by crosspieces enriched with brass. The amounts are rounded, enriched with brass flutes and extend with straight feet.
The dresser is topped with a marble breccia tray.
Guillaume SCHWINGKENS, foreign cabinetmaker installed in France in the middle of the 18th century. He obtained his mastery probably at the beginning of the reign of Louis XV. Of German origin, SCHWINGKENS arrives in Paris at Regency era. He began to practice rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine and around 1745 transferred his studio rue de Charonne.
