In Morocco, one distinguishes on the one hand, the city carpets (Rabat, Fes, Médiouna) and on the other hand the Berber rural carpets produced in the Middle Atlas (Zayane, Zemmour, Béni Mguild, Beni Ouaraine, Ait Youssi and Ait Guerouane) , in the High Atlas (Taznakht) and in the Haouz of Marrakech (Chichaoua). They are mostly the work of women. Each tribe has its own style (colors, decor, patterns, etc.). The techniques of spinning wool, weaving and dying have remained the same for millennia. The Berber carpets are made using the fixed vertical loom, a rustic model used for rugs whose length does not exceed that of the loom itself (3 meters).
