The first works Auguste Cain joins forces with the sculptor Pierre-Jules Mène whose daughter he will marry in 1852. He begins to exhibit at the Salonen 1846 with a wax group Warblers defending their nest against a dormouse, now missing, but who was later cast in bronze and presented at the 1855 Salon.

Auguste Cain founded his own works and those of his father-in-law.
