René Le Forestier, born in Pontivy in 1903, died in Concarneau in 1972, is a French painter who lived in Concarneau and painted especially Brittany. Originally trained as a hairdresser, René Le Forestier was a pupil of Arthur Midy and settled in Concarneau 14, place Saint-Guénolé where he held an art gallery, in the heart of the "closed city" that he painted abundantly. Painter of great talent, he also made a lot of "food painting", that is to say, small format quickly painted, but within reach of all budgets. The many scenes of life that he represented are valuable testimonies on life in Brittany in the middle decades of the twentieth century.
