Oil on oak panel in "Tondo" Dimension with frame: 52 x 52 cm (diameter: 35 cm) This precious tondo painted on wood, represents in the pure tradition of Nordic painters a landscape animated with characters in a bushy and green nature. Work of Pieter Jansz. van Asch (1603, Delft - 1678, Delft), Dutch painter of the golden age. Known for his paintings of landscapes as diverse as wooded landscapes, river landscapes, winter landscapes, and Italian landscapes. Born in Delft in the Netherlands in 1603, he studied painting with his father, Jan van Asch, who specialized in portrait painting and became a member of the Saint Luc guild of Delft in 1623. His style was influenced by Jan van Goyen, Pieter de Bloot, Jan Both, Joachim Govertsz and Camphuysen. He died in 1678 and was buried on June 6, 1678 in the Oude Kerk church in Delft.
