Object description :

"Embroidery Of The Kings Of France Folk Art Bourgeois Epoque Napoléon III"
Beautiful and unique Embroidery work signed and dated 1866 ds its original setting. This work of bourgeois folk art has been made with incredible care, indeed, its author has set up the exhaustive list of all the kings of France since the first Merovingian in 420 until Napoleon III in the current reign to the time of work. We will notice the use of the term race to describe the different successive dynasties; Merovingians, Carolingians, Capetians, Valois, Bourbons etc. Dates and duration of all the reigns embroidered on a cream background with almost black silk thread and gold thread. Magnificent & wide frieze decorated with oak leaves, laurel wreath, acorns, mistletoe branches, various foliage and flowers surmounted by the crown of the coronation. Set under glass on double bead and in a frame in wood and gold stucco ... frame size: 77.5 x 100.5 / view 64 x 87 / thickness 5 cm / baguette width 7cm. Very good condition. Note small foxing on the background tissue. We can consider cleaning the frame to find the patina of the original gilding. Work signed A. Balland. Name of a rich family of sugar industrialists in the 19th century. Feel free to ask any questions I have not answered yet. Delivery possible to study case by case according to destination.
