Carved coconut with Orientalist decor of landscapes and monuments, as well as flowers and foliage, working sailor or convict *, XIXth century. This coconut is in good condition. A note: missing the eyes of the grotesque character, the foot was broken then glued, some wear and scratches of time, see photos. * The Coconut: like the corozo, it was worked by sailors or convicts. The latter worked to pass the time but also and especially to make a little money to improve their lives. Can also be attributed to sailors on their long journeys.
