The wild man is a mythological figure of medieval Europe. Bearded, shaggy and armed with a club, it is a link between civilized humanity and the elven spirits of wilderness, hence its presence in front of the home. Often presented as crazy, it appears in the Celtic stories of the Middle Ages with poetic and prophetic powers.
