"Commode Sauteuse Grenobloise, School Of Hache"
Transition frieze chest of drawers with two drawers without cross of the region Grenobloise. Composed of ash burr, cherry veneer, rosewood marquetry and rosewood nets, it presents on the whole clear species contrasted with darker. The richly ornamented facade as a whole presents in detail several frames: a first cherrywood inlay, then burl ash and finally a central medallion: a superb scene with birds. On the sides and uprights are the same compositions and the use of dark rosewood for circular geometric shapes. This elegant set rests on 4 curved legs, the dresser is topped with a red marble griotte veined white. Beautifully crafted and marquetry tastefully composed, the dresser is adorned with gilded bronzes (handles, keyhole, clogs and apron). Although the quality of the chest of drawers, the types of species used, such as the ash burl, the volatile-themed marquetry and the bossed bevels on the feet remind us of the work of the Hache dynasty and more precisely of Jean-François. Ax, the attribution in the state is not certain. Our certainty is that this exceptional dresser illustrates the style and talent of the best Dauphiné cabinetmakers. Transition period, eighteenth.
