He was appointed curator of the galleries of the Palace of Versailles in 1796. Talented portraitist, his works are characterized by a touch full of vigor. His portraits, very similar, have the distinction of also giving a kind and expressive image of his models. He painted in particular a majestic and imposing portrait of Louis XVI in coronation costume.
