Winner of the recent Prix Abd-El Tif in 1913, he left for Algeria for the stay he was entitled to, but the country he liked as he settled there. He returned regularly to Paris where he was Associate of French Artists where he obtained the Gold Medal in 1922.
He often spent holidays in his family's home region of Getaria in the Spanish Basque Country, crunching landscapes where he sometimes inserted Algerian characters, like our painting where this Arab and his horse are on the map. Getaria beach with El Raton in the background !
Oil on panel 33 X 41 cm, circa 1930, mounted in a beautiful Parnassian frame of the time 56 X 64 cm.
