Bottom left: Located the beach of the Favière in the Var and dated 1915 signed Jean PESKE provenance family collection of the artist a certificate will be given to the purchaser folds and ripple paper from the passing time.Jean Peské is a French painter, engraver and illustrator of Polish origin by his father and Russian by his mother. After studying at the School of Painting in Kiev, then at the School of Fine Arts in Odessa and Warsaw, he left for Paris in 1891 to continue his training at the Julian Academy in the workshops of Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. Jean Peské got closer to the Pointillists and in particular to Signac with whom he went to Saint-Tropez in 1893. He also became friends with Sérusier and the Nabis with whom he exhibited at Le Barc de Boutteville until 1896. Peské lives in Montmartre, carries out decorative work, illustration projects and frequents cabarets and cafés théAtres. In 1905 he moved to Bois-le-Roi, where he painted trees in the forest of Fontainebleau and members of his family. Peské travelled regularly to the South of France, notably to Collioure and Bormes where he painted nature, the sea and family scenes with a very colourful palette. In 1926 and 1927, he stayed in the Vendée and painted many landscapes. He exhibited at the Salon d'Automne from 1905 to 1945, at the Salon des Tuileries from 1924 to 1949 and at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts until 1938. Numerous exhibitions are devoted to him notably in 1909, 1913, 1921 At the Devambez Gallery, At the Bernheim Gallery in 1909, in 1921, 1922, 1931, 1972 At the Durand-Ruel Gallery and at the Jean-Claude Bellier Gallery he had exhibitions in 1967, 1969, 1970 and 1990.
