This observation also applies to some painters who have the misfortune to be the namesakes of some of their most famous colleagues ...
The bigourdan painter Lucien Jules Gros (1896-1942) is a perfect example: namesake of Lucien Alphonse (1845-1913) ), and not being in the databases, his works are systematically given to his eldest, who, to be nice, has never, to my knowledge, painted the Pyrenees that ours loved so much.
Often treated with oil in a key perpendicular to the support, as well in small formats as in large panoramic that his profession of painter decorator has placed in hotels and casinos.
Here we have a pastel, unsigned but with the characteristic touch of Pyrenean Piedmont in summer seen from the plain at the bottom of which a village dominated by a church is lined with large poplars.
Pastel 20 X 34 cm, very nicely framed with a burl rod with nets 25 X 39 cm.
