Academic drawings by Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps (Paris 1803 - Fontainebleau 1860) Profiles of Mars and Venus. Black pencil, faded and heightened with white chalk on beige paper. Signed and dated 1822 Under glass in a period gilded wooden frame. Handwritten annotations on the back of the frame. Good state of conservation (small old restorations on the frame). Dimensions with frame: 30.5 cm X 24 cm These drawings were executed when Decamps was 19 years old, when he executed these drawings and probably during his apprenticeship in the studio of the painter Abel de Pujol (1785-1861), a holder of the academic doctrine.
