A pair of historically interesting marble reliefs made and signed by the sculptor Kasper Hendrik Roskam (1818-1894) 
made by himself for his wedding. 
With on the reverse the engraved text of his wedding.
Still with the original marble frames. 
All in original condition, not restored. 
signed: ROSKAM = Kasper Hendrik Roskam 
born: Harderwijk 8 juni 1818 died: Amsterdam 26 februari 1894 
made for his wedding 18 february 1852. with Engelina Jager. 
Each relief engraved with text on the reverse.
At the reverse of the relief of the Farmer:

Ik ben een Hollands boertje, 
Zo vrolijk en zo blij, 
Ik heb een aardig bruidje 
En het nodige erbij 
als je geld hebt dan doe je wonderen, 
Als je niet en het dan is donderen.

Translation:
I am a small Dutch farmer, 
Cheerful and happy, 
I have a nice bride, 
And lots on top of that. 
If you have money you can do wonders 
If not, it thunders.

Interesting to see is that in the rim of the hat on the relief of the man there is a lottery ticket. This has a typical symbolic meaning that the man has won the lottery.
