"Storks At Nest - A Gangand - Active 1910 - 1915"
Arthur Gangand - Second half of the 19th century - First third of the 20th century, was active in Paris in the years 1900-1915. From him no information has come to us. We just know that he was Associate of French Artists since 1890. He produced many small bronzes in the Art Nouveau style, which served as inkwells, pencil cases, seals, paper cutters, stamps, press -paper as our little object. It would seem that Arthur Gangand also made some paintings. A small Alsatian-style paperweight, it represents, on a nest set at the top of a chimney, two storks, symbol of constancy, longevity and fertility, one of which seems to brood. No doubt it is a small reminder that since 1871, Alsace and Lorraine are no longer in the lap of France, but in that of Germany, and that no one in France does not know ...
