"Walnut Carved Retable Elements XVII (h 67,5 Cm / L 62 Cm Each)"
These two panels, altarpiece elements, very decorative by the work of sculpture, date from the seventeenth century. In walnut, wood that allows a carved work of finesse, one represents the scene of the Annunciation and the other, Saint John the Baptist. With a beautiful relief of a great thickness, these two representations are of high quality. Saint John the Baptist, in profile, pointing a finger at the lamb at his feet, holds a phylactery on which is written ECCE AGNUS DEI. On the left, a tree with a multitude of leaves, fills the other half of the panel. The Annunciation represents Mary kneeling, surprised in the reading of her texts, by the Archangel Gabriel. We find the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. These two panels are richly surmounted by prayers framed by garlands of flowers, leaves and Cariati characters. Very good state. Dimensions: H 67.5 cm / W 62 cm / D 7 cm
