Jean-Baptiste Biscarra (1790-1851), in Italian Giovanni Battista Biscarra Preparatory work "The Reverend Cain" 1817, kept in Turin at the gallery Sabauda. Drawing with wash and gouache on paper. He was a pupil of Pietro Benvenuti and the Florence Academy. Pensioner of the Sardinian government in 1815, he completed his training in Rome where he attended Vincenzo Camuccini and became involved with sculptors Antonio Canova and Bertel Thorvaldsen. In 1821, the king of Sardinia appointed him first painter of the king and director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Turin.
