Object description :

"Steinlen : "the Boxers""
These drawings are the work of Théophile Alexandre STEINLEN (1859-1923) immense artist and prolific draftsman, painter of the disinherited and cats. He shows us boxers in pendants. Pen on paper, signed with the monogram and the stamp with the cat on the lower right each framed by a mat of the same size. Meeting of two drawings, (20.5 x 10.5 and 20.5 x 8 cm), from the workshop sale at Ader Picard Tajan in 1981, mounted under cardboard-wood mat board, on fine paper (sketchbook?), Stamp from the monogram on the lower right and the workshop on the back visible by transparency.
The spontaneity of these drawings makes us think that they were made on the spot. Small defects (light redness and small accident on the blade of the boxer alone) does not detract from the appearance of the whole.
Do not hesitate to ask us by email or phone for additional information or photos.
We have many objects and paintings to restore in our shop / capharnaüm / deposit of Pau where I let myself a little invade and for which we favor the sale on the spot, preferably in lots.
Come help us tidy up by buying us !
