"Museum, Reel Of Lady Of The Court, 17thc, Au Roi Soleil"
Very rare object, to roll the ribbons that embroidered the great ladies of the Court (often to give a capacity to listen to conversations). Extraordinary luxury for a lady's work, with a technique of armory: Thick iron platinum, damasked with gold and silver, rich decoration engraved in the center: two fine compositions: offering ceremonial vases with flowery foliage, birds , and, in the center: the sun and its rays .. This decoration is readable but nevertheless worn, it lacks about 25 % of inlays on the platinum. The winding part is made up of two turned columns ormolu, a shaft with two drums, same gilding, operated by a small crank of precious wood with gadrooned ferrule.
French work of Louis XIV era. The object was to put on a piece of furniture or to enter a box that has disappeared, so that our reel carries no mark or stamp that would allow some authentication.
15.5cm x 10.5cm x 8cm.
