"Table Old Portrait Young Woman In The Workshop Charles Guerin Paris Fauvism Expo Japan 190"
Beautiful old painting, oil on canvas signed lower left of the monogram of Charles Guérin, cons-signed on the back, representing the portrait of a young woman with pink ribbon fuchsia, sitting on a stool, legs and hands crossed, in front of a stove on which rests an enamelled pan. The young woman is sitting in profile. Dressed in a long red sweater, black skirt and polished red shoes, she turns her face to the right and looks at the painter / spectator. In the background, a blue pitcher, a water glass and a deep plate, are placed on a support table. On the wall, a slightly offset table responds to the stove's protection plate in a set of vertical lines while the model in the center of the table softens the whole by the curvature of its posture. Very nice intimate atmosphere for this workshop scene, realized by this renowned portraitist precursor of Fauvism. Our painting is part of the first exhibition of French painters in Japan in 1907. A label on the frame (Contemporary French Art Exhibition in Japan), and the stamp of the customs authorizing the export are present. Handwritten inscription on the chassis 'in the workshop' France and Japan maintain many exchanges at this time, and the bilateral exhibitions are frequent, they will stop at the beginning of the second world war. The table is in good condition see photos. Dimensions: total 78 cm x 64 cm, canvas only 61 cm x 51 cm
